Contact an Enrollment Adviser

Why Should You Talk with an Enrollment Adviser?

Continuing your education is a big step. Our enrollment advisers (EAs) are here to help you through the decision-making process.

You are encouraged to participate in a one-on-one phone meeting with an EA. This helps your EA learn about your unique situation and educational goals, and then they can guide you down the path that’s right for you. Whether you’ve just started the research process or know which online program will work best for you, your EA can help streamline your efforts.

Who are the enrollment advisers?

The close-knit UW Extended Campus Recruitment Team is made up of EAs who strive to be partners with you in your educational journey. With backgrounds in counseling, social work, academic advising, higher education, and teaching, the EAs enrich prospective students’ decision-making process by bringing a variety of experience and expertise to each individual’s unique situation.
EAs are equipped to answer your questions about all of the UW Extended Campus and UW Flexible Option online programs. Each EA is passionate about helping you make the best decision for your career and life goals.

Kathleen Farrell, UW Extended Campus Enrollment Adviser

“Being an Enrollment Adviser is fulfilling because of the student stories I hear. I listen to each student—what motivates them, how they see education fitting into their busy lifestyle, and any barriers they might see getting in the way—and then get to put their mind at ease by letting them know they CAN do this and how!”

What will a conversation with an enrollment adviser be like?

The conversation can take as little or as much time as you need, although we’ve found most of our in-depth conversations average 20 to 30 minutes.

EAs like to start each conversation by learning more about your unique educational background, career goals, and family/life responsibilities. By understanding your situation and what is important to you, your EA can better answer questions and ensure that you’re qualified for the UW Extended Campus or UW Flexible Option online program that meets your needs.

The EA team is not a sales team but rather an advising team made up of individuals who are motivated to understand your situation and to offer guidance based on what’s in your best interest.

“I appreciated that [the EA] took the time to actually dive in and figure out what I was looking for, what my goals were, and made sure the program was a good fit for me. I couldn’t have asked for anything better in an initial conversation. I pretty much stopped looking at any other programs after the call.”
Jordan Schumacher, UW Flexible Option Health Sciences graduate

The enrollment adviser will cover the following information to help you make a well-informed decision:

  • Program overview
  • Potential career paths
  • Schedule options
  • Online learning formats
  • Support services
  • Tuition and financial aid
  • Time investment per program
  • Transfer credit process
  • Dates and deadlines
  • Admission guidelines and required materials

I’ve had a conversation, what’s next?

After your conversation, you will receive a follow-up email that summarizes the phone call, provides links to information, and outlines next steps. If you decide a UW Extended Campus or UW Flexible Option program is a good fit, your EA will work with you on setting a reasonable timeline to complete your application. If the program is not a good fit or if you are not yet qualified, your EA will do their best to provide other options.

Your EA will be your go-to person until you have submitted an online program application. From there, you will begin working with the campus admissions department. They will collect your application materials and communicate with you on an admissions decision.
